Modernity sometimes requires us to manufacture desirable difficulties (see Desirable difficulties in education) for life in general. Here are a few:
- Intermittent fasting (eg. quarterly)
- Cold showers
- Heavy workouts
- Long runs
- Strenuous hikes
- Unpleasant breathing exercises
